Inside the Barrel with Cedar Ridge Master Distiller Murphy Quint
with chad spalding, Account managerCedar Ridge Distillery's The QuintEssential Special Release No. Five Cask Strength showcases the Iowa distillery’s passion for American single malt innovation through a complex combination of five distinctive finishing casks. Named in honor of the number five's significance to Cedar Ridge—from its founding in 2005 to Master Distiller Murphy Quint’s family name—the limited release highlights the creative blending that has become a hallmark of the QuintEssential series.
The whiskey begins as 100% two-row pale malted barley aged in ex-bourbon barrels before being finished in imported and estate-made Ruby Port casks, imported Madeira casks, estate-made V (Madeira-inspired) wine casks, and estate-grown Marquette red wine casks. Bottled at cask strength, the result is a bold, port- and wine-cask-finished American Single Malt with deep, sweet, nutty, and spiced notes, making it a standout in Cedar Ridge’s Special Release series.
